Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand against all strategies of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11

I was sitting outside on my deck one warm sunny morning this past summer reflecting on God. I was thanking him for blue skies and green grass the sound of the birds and the bunny rabbits. The past few years have been an intense battle. You know, spiritual warfare and a lot of pain.Y

Unfortunately, there are a lot of Christians who do not recognize when there is a spiritual battle going on or even that the demonic realm exists. Why then do we need to armor ourselves for battles?
Ephesians Chapter six verse eleven says to put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Why then does the scripture tell us that the enemy goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour as in 1Peter 5:8 or that Satan comes to steal kill and destroy as in John 10:10? It is not just fairy tales; the spirit world is real. Unfortunately, when Christians don’t understand or recognize the battle, there are casualties of war. Many are hurt and confused. Some fall away, and others scatter. Some whom once were your friends have now become your enemies. Struggling with emotions, I was reminding myself of who God is. The scripture do not worry about your life…. Matthew 6:25-34 came to mind.

When this verse went through my thoughts, there was one lone bird far off in the sky. At first, I wasn’t sure if it was a bird or a plane, but as it drew closer, I could see it was a bird and its wings were straight out, no flapping. This was a pretty large bird and had a good size wing span. The bird was just coasting, soaring along on the wind. It went for quite a distance. It circled and dipped right above me then lifted up higher and soared on. Again just catching the wind, no wing flapping until it disappeared out of sight.

I thought what a beautiful picture of soaring with the Lord and being carried by the wind of His wings finding rest peace comfort and healing. When we soar in the Spirit, we get a different perspective. It is like looking down out of a window of an airplane. Things below appear to be so small and so too is our situations to the Lord. There is nothing too difficult for Him. We just need to yield our minds our will and our emotions to Him.

The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help.
He rescues them from all their troubles.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;
he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
The righteous person faces many troubles,
but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. Psalm 34:17-19.

I thought of the verse lift your eyes to the hills from where my help comes from as it says in Psalm 121 but thought to myself that’s not high enough. I need to gaze upon the throne room and the one seated on the throne as in Revelation 4. He is the plum line. My thoughts must line up with His Word. He is the birds of the air source how much more for me. He is my peace my comforter and Counselor. He heals and restores. Like the bird soaring on the wind so too do we need to find that place in Him.

So I say to you today, no matter the situation you are going through or the level of intensity, fix your gaze upon the Lord. Soar with Him in the Spirit see as He sees put your hope in God, and He will deliver you! Worship Him! Don’t allow yourself to be overcome but be an overcomer. Don’t retreat! I repeat don’t retreat! Press in and press through! As you receive healing, you will move in an anointing to help others in similar situations. Continue to advance the Kingdom by loving the one in front of you, lay hands on the sick and watch them recover, bind up the brokenhearted and set the captives free! You got this!

Prayer Starter: Lord strengthens me in my inner man by the power of Your might. I want to soar with You to new heights! Take me higher take me deeper into You! Let me see as you see! Heal my heart and set this captive free! Use me for Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
