“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58
1: Harvest time!!
So over the last couple of devotions, we have talked about seasons, and in today’s devotion, we’re going to talk about the last two parts to another season. The season of reaping and sowing. We learned that everyone has a fruitful season and it’s that time of fruitfulness and accomplishments you just don’t stop and smell the roses and take note of the little things because we always want so much more than we already have. The season of reaping is always before the sowing this is considered our Harvest time a time of Joy! To be honest, Fall is one of my favorite seasons I love the look of Fall the Beauty of the trees, the smell of the fresh, crisp air. It speaks and shows the accomplishments from your summer. All that you were taught and learned this is where in the natural you would see where you turned profit, but likewise it should be the same in the spirit.
Let’s go back to the story of Joseph in Genesis 41:46-48, “And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh and went throughout all the land of Egypt. And in the seven plenteous years, the earth brought forth by handfuls. And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same.” Joseph reinvested back into the fruit of his labors. It says he went throughout all the land of Egypt; he didn’t stay in the presence of King Pharaoh because he knew that the season wasn’t going to last forever. He went out and gathered the food in the fields. I say unto you, open your eyes and look into the fields for they are ripe for harvest. Don’t neglect the harvest it is important right now because it’s your next step to your upcoming season.
2: Planting ~ investing for the future.
This is the last part after the reaping; it’s time to start planting. You see, there is a time for sowing and planting and investing but you can only do so much the rest has to be left up to the Lord. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.” We all know from previous times that we don’t reap right away we just have to keep planting, planting and plant some more, knowing just as God brought the increase before He shall do it again. For He is a rewarder of the diligent seeker, and His Word will accomplish that which is set forth to do. Know that we know about these seasons and how to be fruitful we need to plant them by the stream of living water and just when we think there’s no growth we need to have Faith to know that God is moving. It’s up to us to guard our crops and our fields cause it’s those little foxes that spoil the vine. This is the season where everything you were taught will show through what’s developed in the seasons to come. The choice is yours, how are you investing what God has given you?
Joseph had enough grain that he gathered that he was able to feed other cities for the next seven years of that famine. I leave you with this; don’t be lazy and unmotivated but keep your eyes in the fields and Jesus John 4:35-38 “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.” The Harvest is truly plentiful but the labourers are few get busy about your fathers business and watch God bring the increase. For there is a time and a season for everything under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1
Prayer Starter: Father God I pray that You keep me busy and that You will let me know what season you have me in. Lord, that just like Moses requested I’ll go but not without Your Presence. I need Your presence to go before me to shelter me and guide me for You are my Shepherd. Father, let me invest and not be foolish with the fruitful season You have given me but allow it to increase and grow year after year and season after season in Jesus’ all-powerful name I pray, Amen!
