I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1

I had been thinking about the generosity of our Father being continually being poured out. I thought about how His love never ends, it never fails, and His mercies are new every morning. I considered how He is faithful and gives of His protection, His provision, His wisdom and counsel, His fellowship and most of all His generosity through the sacrifice of Jesus.

Ephesians 5:2 says to walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. When I think about God’s generosity toward me through the offering and sacrifice of Jesus, I find it extravagant, radical, illogical to the human mind. I mean, THE God of the universe, He desires fellowship with me, He Wants to give me good things, He wants a partnership with me ruling and reigning together with Him. He’s Looking for a spotless bride, and He is full of passion and compassion.

Offering and sacrifice go hand in hand; they are not separable. You can’t have one without the other. Considering the sacrifice and generosity of God through Jesus, it should be a natural desire to be a living sacrifice for Him. But It has to cost you something, and many are not willing.

In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted.
but you have given me an open ear.
Burnt offering and sin offering
you have not required.
Then I said, “Behold, I have come;
in the scroll of the book it is written of me
I delight to do your will, O my God;
your law is within my heart.” Psalm 40:6-8

The Opened ear provoked a response!The open ear speaks of revelation.
The Passion Translation says, but when you open my ears and speak deeply to me, I become your willing servant, your prisoner of love for life. In Hebrew “Pierced my ear” is a Hebraic reference to a bond servant whose ear has been pierced by his master as a sign of wanting to serve for life. The Scroll of the book speaks of my destiny and purpose. Jesus Became thee offering. We no longer needed to follow the sacrifice and offerings of the Old Testament. We become the living sacrifice. With an open ear revelation, it no longer becomes a sacrifice to be a lover and servant of Jesus.
Paul’s appeal to us through this verse is a mirror or reflection of Christ’s sacrifice for us.

Romans 12:1 says,”I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”

His mercies are our motive for obedience, and when we present or offer ourselves, we are yielding to Him as a Living sacrifice, acceptable to God the father.

When Comparing the Old Testament with the New Testament, we see that through Jesus Christ the following exists:
The believer is a priest
His body is the sacrifice
Presenting it is his priestly worship
The will of God is the most important thing in the universe

How do we become a living sacrifice?
By becoming a laid down radical lover of Jesus.
It’s No longer I who lives but Christ who lives in me.

2. By repentance and obedience. You live for Christ with your mind, will, emotions, body, soul, and spirit. It’s no longer about your agenda or your desires.

3. You no longer feed the lusts of your flesh.What you behold is what you become. You are abiding in Him.You live for Him, with every breath every thought every move you make is in Him.

1Peter 2:5 says, “You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

Romans 12:2 says “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

To conform is outward and means to act in accord with the prevailing standards, attitudes, practices, etc., of society or a group.So Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you! Transform is Inward and means to change in condition, nature, or character; convert.In other words “Change the way you think.”

Matthew 16:24-27 says, “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.’”

Sadly many are happy with their salvation and stop there, but I beseech you not to stop there! There is so much more on this side of Heaven to experience. Won’t you become a living sacrifice reflecting Jesus in the earth walking in love and power?

Prayer Starter: Lord open my ears that I may have greater revelation of You and Your sacrifice and offering for me. I desire to be a reflection of You in the earth. So I present myself to You as a living sacrifice. I want to walk in love and demonstration of power just as You did. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
